Job Opening: Desk Editor
Calling all job-hunting journalists! Check out this job posting in the Los Angeles area.
DESK EDITOR
Do you want to keep active in news as a desk editor but work only part-time or on a fill-in basis? Do you like having a major impact in your community -- if that community is one of the world's major news centers? Or are you looking for an opportunity that could eventually lead to a full-time position?
City News Service Inc., the nation's largest regional news service, covers news in Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside and San Diego counties 24 hours a day. We're looking for experienced journalists to fill shifts at our West L.A. hub, which could include weekend and overnight assignments.
You must be a strong copy editor with social media skills. You'll also be making assignments, directing reporters, doing your own reporting and more. You'll never be bored because news happens at all hours in every one of the counties we cover in Southern California. Our subscribers include just about all the major local, national and international media in Southern California. Find out more about us at www.SoCalNews.com.
You should be knowledgeable about Southern California's communities, institutions and leaders, and be a college or university graduate. It's a great chance to show us what you can do or to work on that screenplay or novel and still be part of the world of journalism.
E-mail your resume - with cover letter - to Lori Streifler, CNS Editor, at Lori@SoCalNews.com. Due to the number of replies, we may not be able to respond to each applicant. City News Service is an equal opportunity employer.
