The Los Angeles Pro chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists was honored yesterday at SPJ’s national Excellence in Journalism conference in New Orleans with a 2015-2016 Large Chapter “Circle of Excellence Award,” for outstanding contributions and excellence in the area of chapter communications.

SPJLA’s communications efforts include regular announcements of programs and other matters of interest to Southern California journalists via email, the chapter’s website (SPJLA.org) and the chapter’s social media sites, including Facebook and Twitter.

The flow of information is maintained by the chapter secretary, Christina Cocca, with the assistance of the chapter president, Navid Nonahal.

Professor Stephanie Bluestein of California State University, Northridge, chapter board member, accepted the award. Dr. Bluestein is one of two Los Angeles delegates to the conference, the other being Lauren Bartlett.
